In 2022, along with two fellow Soulside Healing Arts yoga instructors, I helped design, plan, teach and lead a 15 continuing-education hours event centering trauma informed somatic and mindfulness based healing. This two day training required me to track, update and register my teaching hours and yoga education (as part of the process of being a qualified, approved teacher for the training).
Prior to the event I helped market, clarify and encourage participation in the event through social media, personal networking and other available community outlets. I was also tasked with securing a venue, including payments, thank yous for venue staff, schedule updates and space special requests.
During the training I led sections of educational lectures, facilitated discussions, promoted an environment of questions and feedback, offered guidance within my scope of practice and enabled my fellow event leaders to do the same. The event had a total of 34 attendees, with professional backgrounds in therapy, arts, yoga, reiki, body work and more.
The successes and mistakes of the 2022 event laid the groundwork for future trainings, currently scheduled for April 2023 and September 2023. Using participant feedback and the clarity that comes from “first times” we’ve been able to more robustly plan the flow, resources and time commitments for the next trainings. (Updates from future trainings will be added here once applicable.)
